I got my baby-themed crafting on during the past few weeks while I worked on a couple of gifts for my colleague’s sweet baby girl! She’s due in June and we celebrated with a baby shower last night.
Thanks to some expert sewing advice from my mother Janice, I was able to finish three little bibs along with a momma bird/baby bird shadow box. Inspired by this site, I traced both birds onto some Amy Butler and Target scrapbook paper, cut them out and adhered them to some heavy cardstock. I drew 4 skinny birdie legs and dropped the art into a shadow box from Ikea. Voila! Easy and cute artwork for a nursery or playroom. You could easily do this with fabric instead of paper or create other simple animal shapes.
The little bibs were a bit tricky, but I have a feeling I might just sew up a big stockpile of tiny bibs to have on hand for future special deliveries! They are useful, easy to do and don’t require much fabric. I’m going to try my hand at creating larger bibs for toddlers and small children as well.
I remember having a favorite (and least favorite) bib growing up….my favorite had pink and yellow bunnies on it. I avoided the one with a crossed stitch cat like the plague.
If you need any handmade baby gifts, I’d be happy to create some for you or offer up resources and ideas!
