A finished quilt

Several years ago, I wrote about my very slow effort to finish a quilt for our bedroom. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that that quilt is still in pieces in my craft room – maybe this winter will finally be the time to finish it. (Though I’m not promising anything.) It has officially become a UFO (unfinished object).

A quilt I did finish, however, was a little crib sized blanket my mother and I worked on together for my nephew. I picked out the festive kite/flag design, chose the fabric and sewed on all the kite triangles. My mother recently learned to machine quilt, so she added all the beautiful stitches to the blanket. Her friend Nan embroidered Charlie’s name and birth information on the quilt clouds once he arrived. We surprised my sister with the new quilt in May.

It’s kind of tricky to take a good picture of a quilt – ignore the feet in the photos below. :)
