Karl and I spent the first 10 days of 2015 vacationing in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with our friends Karin and Corey. It was a fantastic time to escape Minnesota; we lucked out and avoided the coldest days of winter!
We had never been to the DR before, but I can’t wait to go back! The weather was warm and sunny, the ocean was a bright turquoise blue and everyone was so friendly. I enjoyed a chance to practice a bit of my Spanish (perhaps more accurately described as Spanglish) and had fun remembering all sorts of vocabulary words and phrases.
We rented a condo from VRBO in the Cap Cana area of Punta Cana and explored the beachfront and various resorts from the speedy comfort of an Electric golf cart. The boys had the most fun with the cart – including a few late night escapades! The rest of our evenings were spent playing cards (I’m now an experienced Hearts player), reading books (Karl downloaded Marley & Me because he missed Tembo so much!) and watching a bit of America Idol and The Bachelor. It’s always funny to me to watch American TV in other countries.
Traveling with friends is a great way to vacation…it’s always fun to have people to share your adventures with. We’re already planning our next trip with Karin and Corey…hopefully to Montana or Yellowstone in the fall. Can’t wait!
